Multimedia Writing

Another interesting thing i came across todaY as i got sidetracked from researching stuff for my assignment (sorry MabeL! :P). I found this journal of multimedia writing called inFlect and the screen shot below is one of the pieces available there.

Multimedia writing is an integration of text, visual images and sound into a reciprocal relationship; writing combining critical and creative content *InFlect About*.

It's fun, colourful and definitely eye-catching - a good way to attract/keep surfers' attention to your page. I wonder if this can be incorporated into teaching-learning process, this way the percentage of students sleeping in class might actually decrease :D .

Appleseed

Set in a war-ravaged 2131; the story centers on Deunan, a female soldier who is rescued from the violent ruins of an old city and taken to Olympus - a utopian metropolis. Here, she is reunited with her old partner/ex-lover, Briareos, who is now a cyborg.
Olympus is a complex society consisting of humans and the near-indistinguishable bioDroids, with both sides locked in a constant power struggle. Deunan and Briareos are soon involved with a plot that threatens to destroy the delicate human-bioDroids balance and bring about a terrible genocide. (Synopsis, Appleseed 2004-Movie)

ALOT to see in this movie with regards to the 3D animation. My first Japanese animation movie (what took me so long??!!) and thank god it did not disappoint me. The quality of it is really beautiful, although albeit SHINY i would say for the human; the curves of the body and cheeks shines too brightly - almost similar to metal shine. The robots are cool and all but most of all i love the background scenery and the cars. There was this part where Deunan got washed ashore and the ocean lay behind her... nIcE. As for the story line, it is interesting and spooky at the same time; interesting in a sense that it's not predictable or a cliche but spooky when you think of the possibility where the idea of it becoming real. Think of it this way: there has always been an argument to the future of technology i.e. artificial intelligence and stuff. What happens when no. of robots= no. of human.... or worse yet... what happens when no. of robots > no. of human? Or when the new breed backfires against humanity? There are movies like I Robot and Animatrix which "play" with that idea.

Anyhow... a movie definitely worth looking up :D
